Option #1: I used the starfish and sand dollar layout.  The last layer of cardstock is a striking aqua blue and the middle layer is a light purple shimmer textured cardstock.  The Swarovski crystal Mickey Mouse head is place above all the wording on this invitation….

Option #2: 

For this one I used almost the same cardstock color scheme…the only difference is that the bottom layer of cardstock is slightly darker in color and more blue than the previous and also this one has shimmer sheen to it where the first one was a matte cardstock.  I used the starfish layout  and placed the Swarovski crystal Mickey head accent above your names.  I also used the font that you had mentioned that you liked and accented the names in a sea foam green color….

Option #3:

Here is the same starfish layout as the previous one.  For this one I decided to try a sand colored pattern paper for the middle layer and I used the shimmer lavender for the bottom layer.  The same font was used for this one but instead I accented your names in lavender. 

 I added some red/oranges to the female cardinal. and also changed the rose on the bottom left hand corner and on the response card.  Also, overall the images on this invitation have better coloring than the last version I created…I thought that it was a bit washed out overall…this one the graphics are a touch brighter and slightly bolder…what are your thoughts?…do you like this coloring better?

 Also, I kept the red and white middle layer since you mentioned you liked that.  For the back layer of cardstock I used the blue shimmer textured cardstock that was used on the very first sample that I sent you in the mail….which blue cardstock do you prefer?

For this one I tried a patterned red and white dots for the middle layer…

Here is another option where I used a white shimmer textured paper for the middle layer.  I also made the middle layer on this one slightly larger than the previous one.

Here is the green by itself as the background cardstock.  I also tried to reduce the size of the invitation just a little to make the background layer a little wider for more of an impact…

Here is the lavendar textured, shimmer background cardstock option….

Here is another one that I played around with.  I used two background layers of cardstock again.  This time I used neutral colors to show off the peach lace.  The bottom layer is a tan, matte cardstock and the middle layer is a cream, texured, shimmer cardstock.

I was contacted about a month ago by a bride who wanted some subtle hints of the peacock feathers in her peacock/vintage reception decor.  She saw my peacock feather invitations on etsy and contacted me to see if I could create matching table numbers, place cards, and menus for her October wedding reception!

I just had to share this beautiful set…it turned out so beautiful with the shimmer, champagne colored cardstock!!

I am also a huge fan of the menu….so cute!!!..and not too over the top!

So, since my last post was about the wedding invitation design, I thought it would be best to feature this fabulous reception invitation design!!!  The bride told me that this “back home” reception is being held in Boston and will have a “Provencal” theme and decor …and even though she didn’t have a specific color pallet, she loved the mustard yellow color.  Immediately I thought of beautiful hand painted Provencal style dishes and patterns.  After seeing a few different Provencal patterns and designs I decided to incorporate one of those with the gold hand painted flowers that were featured on the wedding dress to give the invitations cohesiveness but yet each will have their own distinct personality for event. 

I just love this set!!!

So for the wedding invitations I concentrated just on the beautiful gold flowers…

I also made a cute little tag for the front of the invitations to give a cute little preview of what is inside….

In my next post I will show you the reception invitations that turned out just AMAZING!!!  I just love them!!!

Back of the Map -- The Directions

I am always finding new inspiration for ideas and wedding invitation designs!  Lately it seems as if my mind is constantly thinking about invitations and I am frequently saying to myself “Hey, that would look great on a wedding invitation!”  I drive home from work looking closely at trees, flowers, designs, signs, churches, houses, rock fences, fields of wildflowers and tall grass, animals, birds, etc!  I have a HUGE list NEVER ENDING of all the different ideas I have and sample invitations that I want to create!!! 

Well, last night I was cleaning and I found some old notebooks from high school and college.  I quickly flipped through them and found that I LOVED to DOODLE!!!  It seemed like every single page was covered in doodles amongst my notes.  Most of my doodles consisted of flowers, hearts, swirls, and for some reason I liked to sign my name a lot :) Anyway…I examined my doodles a little more and noticed that I pretty much doodled the same thing over and over again!!  I guess since lately my mind is in wedding stationary mode I thought to myself… “I can probably design a beautiful invitation from my doodles!!!” And so my designing began and my cleaning stopped :)   I took out a blank sheet of paper and drew all of the different flower doodles that I could find…. I scanned it so you could see …..

Then I looked at the ones I drew most often….

So, I decided to use those flowers along with some swirls and leafs to create a beautiful invitation set!  I decided to use just an outline of all the flowers since that was what my doodling consisted of….no shading, no color….just simple outlines of flowers. 

After the design was completed I formatted the invitation and put in some example wording.  Then I printed out a sample invitation on a beautiful shimmer paper and added some matte cardstock layers to it.   Next I realized that it needed some shimmer paint…of course!  So I choose a very elegant blue color and painted in some of the flower petals.  Hmmm….almost finished, but I thought that since I was going for an elegant approach to this invitation, it needed some swarovski crystals…which in my opinion makes EVERYTHING look a little more elegant!  I opted for green swarovski crystals and attached them in the middle of the painted flowers….simply stunning!!!   ….Just take a look at this elegant doodle inspired design……

The best part about this invitation is that it can be EASILY customized for any color pallet!!!  Just tons of color choices…cardstock, shimmer paint, swarovski crystals, font, and even envelopes!  Perhaps I could create a sample using a bunch of different colors!!!  Perhaps pink and green cardstock layers, purple and yellow shimmer painted flowers, blue swarovski crystals, and green envelopes!!!  Again…there goes my mind…constantly thinking of new ideas

These particular invitations hold a special place in my heart as I designed an invitation set very similar to this one for my own wedding almost 2 years ago on May 26th, 2007.

–My anniversary count down….exactly 20 days!!  ummm….Ben are you reading? hint, hint

Anyway, Annie chose to go with very neutral colors for her seashells  and also loved the twine that tied the 3 seashells together….overall it has a very simple, elegant, beachy look!  Also, I was able to design the response card to look like a sand dollar to match!  I am so pleased with how these turned out and I hope you all enjoy the pictures!!!

I am super excited to announce that Shanon Medley has entered into the blogging world! I have been talking about starting a blog for a couple of years now and I made it my 2009 New Year’s resolution to update my website and to start a blog. I have already begun the LONG process of updating my website…(which, by the way, is not even close to being finished…but I am super happy with the way it is coming along!). And okay…so it is April already and I am JUST NOW creating my first blog post….but hey at least a little late is better than never

Anyway, I am pleased to get this up and running…officially!

I am hoping that you will find a lot of great information about me, my passion for painting, crafting, and weddings…. and my newfound love to create unique, custom, exquisite, beautiful, one-of-a-kind wedding invitations!

Weddings have always held a place in my heart and always knew that one day I would make a living doing what I love….painting and planning weddings. Little did I know that all I had to do was combine the two and I would have a successful business! My wedding invitation business has certainly kept me busy lately and I love every minute of it! I work with some of the most amazing brides and it is such a joy to create stationary that will announce their wedding to their closets family and friends!
